Air Canada Carry-On Allowance

• Passengers flying with Air Canada are allowed one cabin bag with 23 x 40 x 55 cm (9 x 15.5 x 21.5 inches) dimension, along with one personal item that should not exceed 16 x 33 x 43 cm (6 x 13 x 17 inches).
• For smaller additional items, the collapsed dimension of a small purse needs to be 25.5 cm x 92 cm/ 10 x 36 inches)
• While traveling with a child under two years of age, you are allowed to carry an additional hand luggage to carry the child's belongings.
• As per Air Canada carry-on baggage, prohibited items include firearms, fireworks, gas cylinders, avalanche rescue packs.

Carry-On & Musical Instruments

You can carry a musical instrument on board as a typical carry-on allowance, provided it fits within the allowed dimensions and accommodates into the overhead locker or even under the seat opposite.

If your instrument is too big to fit in, you could book an additional seat for it. The big catch is - if you book an additional seat for your instrument, you'll save up to 50% on any published fare. Your instrument dimension should not exceed 162.5 cm (64 in) in length or 36 kg (80 lbs) in weight.
