Delta Airlines promises safe flying experience with empty middle seats beyond September

Domestic and international travellers continue to pin their hopes and prefer flying with Delta Airlines in the turbulent times of Coronavirus pandemic. A recent survey indicated that more and more travellers are making Delta Airlines reservations for the singular reason that the premier U.S. legacy carrier is offering a safer flying experience than before.

Keeping in view persistent safety concerns travellers are still hesitant to be airborne even as fatalities due to COVID-19 are yet to subside. But, when it comes to booking Delta flights the travellers are more forthcoming and aren’t concerned or worried in any way.

Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian recently said that the airline will continue to abide by the social distancing policy and extend it further by keeping the middle seats empty on all of its flights beyond September 30. At the same time, he also admitted that operating flights with empty middle seats won’t be viable or feasible for a longer time as the revenue prospects are also to be taken care of.

It may be noted that Delta Airlines is rather bold on its empty middle seat policy, whereas no major airline has adopted such an approach. Some airlines have even gone to the extent of saying that “social distancing isn’t possible on a plane”.

Delta Airlines recently conducted a survey in which its customers were asked about the reasons for purchasing Delta Airlines flight tickets. The survey pointed out that the customers cited the blocked middle seats and the space on board the plane as the No. 1 reason for preferring to fly with Delta.

Delta Airlines CEO pointed out that he never misses a chance to remind air travellers that social distancing safeguards are in place and the airline is taking every possible measure for the healthy well being of its customers on board the flights. He said that the travellers shouldn’t hesitate to book Delta Airlines flight tickets as the airline isn’t filling its flights during the Coronavirus pandemic, which is being done by some of its competitors. He said that the less-crowded Delta Airlines flights are being greatly preferred by the travellers than on many other airlines. According to Delta Airlines, the extension of its empty middle seat policy could be through the end of the year or into early 2021.

Media reports said that even the travellers are putting behind the fears of Coronavirus pandemic and have started to travel. The aviation sector is looking up as the travel prospects slowly rebounds.
