U.S. airlines are preparing for a major expansion in Italy in 2025, introducing new routes and boosting capacity across key cities. This surge reflects growing demand for transatlantic travel and positions Italy as a leading winter destination.

United Airlines is launching three new routes: Denver to Rome, Newark to Palermo, and Washington, D.C., to Venice. The airline will also upgrade its Newark-Rome route with a Boeing 777-300ER and add a second daily Newark-Naples service.

Delta Airlines is making significant moves by introducing four new routes: New York JFK to Catania, Atlanta to Naples, Boston to Milan, and Minneapolis to Rome. Delta will also enhance its Atlanta-Rome flights to 17 weekly services and upgrade its Boston-Milan route with an Airbus A330neo. Additionally, Detroit-Rome flights will now operate through the winter season.

American Airlines is adding four Italian destinations to its network: Dallas to Venice, Philadelphia to Milan, Chicago to Naples, and Miami to Rome. A second daily Philadelphia-Rome flight is planned, though some routes, including the second daily services on FCO-DFW, JFK, and ORD-VCE, will be discontinued.

Low-cost carrier Norse Atlantic Airways is increasing its Los Angeles-Rome flights from three to five weekly services and extending operations into winter 2025. Similarly, Neos will debut a new route connecting New York JFK to Bari.

ITA Airways is also stepping up its U.S. operations. The airline will replace the A330-200 on its Boston-Rome route with the modern A330-900neo by October 2025. Additionally, Miami-Rome flights will increase to ten weekly services during the winter season.

Italy's growing appeal as a tourist hotspot has sparked this wave of expansions. "Italy is set to be the destination to watch for winter 2025," remarked aviation analyst Ishrion Aviation. These developments underscore the dynamic relationship between the U.S. and Italy in the global travel landscape.
