Southwest Airlines has announced that it will expand two routes to Houston and add flights to new Hawaiian cities from San Diego.

The airline said it will expand flights to Amarillo and Lubbock from Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). The Sunday-only service on both the routes will have another weekday flight starting in mid-April 2020.

Southwest Airlines has also said that flights from San Diego will be launched to two new Hawaiian cities in April next year. The flights from San Diego to Kahului will start from April 14, 2020, while the flights from San Diego to Honolulu will start operating from April 20, 2020.

It may be noted that the Dallas-based Southwest Airlines is already serving Hawaii from San Jose and Oakland. The airline will also launch a new service to Hawaii from Sacramento starting November 10, 2019.

Southwest Airlines has decided to focus on other mainland gateways to Hawaii in coming years as Hawaii flights have proved to be successful and beyond the company's expectations.
