Exciting news for all explorers traveling from New Orleans! Spirit Airlines is introducing a new daily nonstop route from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) to New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) starting February 12, 2025. This route will offer convenient and direct access to the bustling city, with one-way fares starting at $59 on weekdays and reaching up to $289 on weekends. Bookings for this new route are already open.
This announcement follows Spirit's recent launch of a $65 nonstop flight from New Orleans to Charlotte, beginning October 10, 2024. With these new additions, Spirit Airlines is significantly expanding its nonstop offers from New Orleans. Currently, Spirit also provides nonstop flights to destinations including Atlanta, Cancun, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Miami, Newark, Orlando, San Pedro Sula (Honduras), and Tampa.
In conjunction with these route expansions, Spirit Airlines has unveiled an enhanced "Spirit Guest Experience," featuring four new travel packages:
- Big Front Seat® Package: This package includes a premium seat, one checked bag, one carry-on, priority check-in and boarding, snacks, drinks (including alcohol), and fast Wi-Fi.
- Standard Plus Package: This package offers an aisle or window seat with a guaranteed blocked middle seat, one checked bag, one carry-on, priority boarding, a snack, and a non-alcoholic beverage.
- Standard Package: Includes a standard seat and choice of one checked bag or one carry-on.
- Bare Fare®: Focuses on the basics, allowing travelers to add options like seat selection and baggage separately.
In addition to Spirit's updates, other airlines are also expanding their routes. Breeze Airways will launch nonstop flights to Las Vegas from MSY on February 5, 2025, and will resume its Los Angeles route. Avelo Airlines will start a $79 nonstop service to Southern Connecticut on November 14, 2024. American Airlines will also offer daily nonstop flights to LaGuardia from MSY starting November 5, 2024.
